Updating from 6.0.0 to 6.0.4

Hello,

These two questions will definitely help a few of us here...

Question 1
When updating a site from 6.0.0 up to 6.0.4, do I need to review the changelogs (files changed) from 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.0.3 and 6.0.4 and note the updated files in each version...so that I get all of the files that need to be updated?

Or are the changelogs (files changed) cumulative - meaning I only have to review 6.0.4?

Question 2
Is there a way to tell which version a site is based on a line of code somewhere? Perhaps a primary .css file?

As always, thank you ahead of time for your help!

Hello,

  1. The Changelogs provided is a Version-wise breakdown of the Changes implemented with the Details of the Files/Codes Changes. If you are jumping from v6.0 to v6.0.4 directly, then you will need to probably make the changes more widely. So this works in the same way as Plugins/Frameworks available on the Internet, if you are changing from v6.0.3 to v6.0.4 then you can easily make the changes according to the Latest Changelog. But if you are upgrading from Older Versions, then you will need a more wider update, meaning you will have to update the affected Files completely based on the Changelogs provided for all the versions because sometimes some files have multiple changes across Changelogs.

  2. This can be found in the style.css File.

Hope this Helps!

So if I want to update a site from 6.0.0 to 6.0.4 I have to do the following:

Read the release notes from 6.0.1 and update the changed files. Then
Read the release notes from 6.0.2 and update the changed files. Then
Read the release notes from 6.0.3 and update the changed files. Then
Read the release notes from 6.0.4 and update the changed files. Then

Is that really the case?

Is there no way to simply download 6.0.4 and read the release notes of that and simply update the affected files? from 6.0.0 to 6.0.4
If that is the case, it would be extremely useful if you have a generator tool like the one you recently released...

Thank you.

Hello,

Since this is an HTML Template, unfortunately this is the only way to update. You can consider using a Text Compare Software like BeyondCompare to check the differences in the Files and update accordingly.
