The most needed files to use Canvas?

I know it's said in the docs that you need to have these files uploaded unto your server for canvas to work for any of it's components;

HTML/css – Extra Stylesheets Folder
HTML/include – Required PHP Functions Folder
HTML/images – Images Folder
HTML/js – Javascripts Folder
HTML/style.css – Main Stylesheet File
HTML/index.html – Index File/Homepage

But these files combined make almost 500mb. I had a look at the folders and inside images folder, there are demo images and videos and also inside the include folder, you have the rs_plugin and inside the rs_plugin folder you have a demo folder which is 280mb. I wanted to find out if these files are safe to delete.

With the images folder, how can you tell what to remove and what not to remove? Obviously the images will be replaced with customized images so it's safe to say all images can be deleted? Right? I Just wanted to know if there are default images, icons, etc that I have to keep.

Hello,

We already have a Powerful Tool available for this: http://docs.semicolonweb.com/docs/getting-started/installation/ . So you will not need to delete the Files manually. Simply use the Package Generator to Choose the HTML Files you need for your Project and a Package will be generated for you based on the Files needed for the chosen HTML Files.

Hope this Helps!

Not really. Currently this is how I am using your package.

  1. Download the entire Canvas
  2. Unzip onto your local server and open it via localhost/canvas
  3. Create new folder with all necessary files (http://docs.semicolonweb.com/docs/getting-started/installation/)
  4. Goto localhost/canvas and surf through all the demos, components
  5. Find something you like, open it's html file in WYSIWYG
  6. Copy code block you need from html file
  7. Goto folder created in 3, create a new html file and paste code.
  8. Repeat 3 - 6 till you have every component you need for your webpage.
  9. Upload files to server.

Because I need to surf through the templates, shortcodes, blocks etc and gather what to use, it will be very difficult using the procedure you referred to. All I need to now do is figure out what and what images, rs_plugins I won't need, delete those and we are good.

However, if you have a walk-through video showing the ideal way to create a website from scratch using your system, that would be great.

Please consider checking this Video on How to use the Package Generator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8NFZux7aKM . Here is the Link to the Package Generator: http://docs.semicolonweb.com/docs/getting-started/installation/#docs-snippet-package-generator . You can use this only if you are Logged In. So simply Login using your Envato Account and follow the steps according to the Video:

  1. Check the Live Preview and see which files you would like to use: http://themes.semicolonweb.com/html/canvas/intro.html .

  2. Choose the Files in the Package Generator and Click on the Generate Button. That's it!

Hope this Helps!
