Slow response time (over 5 seconds load time just for the basic template)

Hello, firstly thanks for your great support and excellent template.

So far I find everything excellent (usability, design, documentation, etc.). However, I am facing some issues with the response time. I am switching from an old simple hand-made template with load time of less than 1 second to Canvas template with load time of about 5 seconds. Even without any image and using a CDN I am experiencing a response time of about 5 seconds (for desktop it could be ok, but not for mobile).

Do you have any time or advice (apart of the LESS setup explained in your documentation? Based on my analysis the slow response time is mainly due to the JS files.

Besides, do you have any working example with the LESS setup. It could be quite useful to see one or two examples of that template working in your side to take as an example.

We Really Apologize about the Inconveniences you are facing due to Page Speed. However, we would like to mention that the Template Files do not cause these issues and it is primarily cause due to Slow Servers, disabled gZip Compressions or slow images. Nonetheless, can you please provide us with a Live URL so that we can check out the exact issue and provide you with a more accurate solution for this. Thanks for your Patience.

Additionally, have you already checked out the Optimization Tips provided in the Documentation as this will help immensely. Moreover, you can also create your Custom JS Package: http://support.semicolonweb.com/js-package-generator/ if you are not using all the JS Plugins included with Canvas.

Regarding LESS, we currently do not have working examples but the Current Setup Instructions provided in the Documentation work fine since we have documented it based on how we used LESS while developing it for Canvas. If you are looking to anything specific about LESS with Canvas, please let us know and we will surely provide you with more assistance on this.

New template contact form 3 seconds
Old template contact form 0.8 seconds

With same server (plus CDN, minimizing all CSS, JS files, etc.)

Maybe you will be able to spot something I am doing wrongly in the code.

We have just checked out your Website and the Performance Grade of both the Website suggests otherwise!

The comparisons you are doing for Canvas Template with the Basic Template is slightly unfair as Canvas Template definitely contains some CSS/JS for added Functionality and Modern Design, so the Load Time will definitely be slightly higher as more resources are loaded. But this does not mean that it will affect the performance. Everything on your Website appears to be fine.

Thanks a lot for the fast and clear reply. You are totally right it is not fair to compare response time of simple HTML page with the canvas template as there are many more files and complexity linked to the latest one. Still, I wanted to make sure I was not messing up with the code. Thanks for confirming that all it is fine. Still, I will further explore the LESS setup option.
