I've tried uploading the new theme zip file to wordpress but when the upload is at 100% it shows a message saying 'link timed out'. Is this an issue with clashing plug ins?

Really Apologize for the Inconvenience but this is not a WordPress Theme but a Static HTML5/CSS3 Template so this cannot be installed on WordPress.
You can find WordPress related Themes only in the WordPress Category.
