Making YouTube section work like HTML5 section

Hi, We're still working on the old version of Canvas. We're not planning to upgrade yet.

We have a HTML5 video working well in a section here http://geddesaxe.co.uk/ptv1/index.html

I'd like to change this to a YouTube video. On Youtube it is 1080p60HD (4K). Here is the link https://youtu.be/PoiRoUn7jfs.

I like the way the HTML5 video crops the top and the bottom of the video as the browser window gets wider and narrower. The YouTube section, doesn't work in the same way - it grows and shrinks the video as the browser page size changes.

Can you please tell me how to make the YouTube section behave like the HTML5 section (cropping instead of growing) and what code I need to tell YouTube to stream at 4K. Could you also please tell me how to set the height of the YouTube section.

Can we also put the "black dot grid" overlay on the YouTube video as we have it working on the HTML5 video?

Many thanks for your fantastic template and help.

Nick

Hello,

HTML5 Videos and Youtube Videos work differently. Meanwhile, adding a Youtube BG Video is absolutely possible. You can consider using this Shortcode: http://docs.semicolonweb.com/docs/shortcodes/youtube-backgrounds/ . Example:

An example of this code can be found in the sections.html Template.

This will definitely work fine. Hope this Helps!

Additionally, it is recommended to upgrade to the Latest Version of Canvas as the Youtube BG Plugins are at their Latest Versions and will work more reliably. Moreover, support for v5.x will be very limited.

Let us know if we can help you with anything else or if you find any further issues.
