I've got a problem with the installation of the Canvas theme.
Wordpress say's: Can't find template.
I've used ftp for installation and put the files at the rigth place.
installation faled template?

Hello,
Really Apologize for the Inconvenience but this is not a WordPress Theme but a Static HTML5/CSS3 Template so this cannot be installed on WordPress.
You can find WordPress related Themes only in the WordPress Category.

Bought Canvas at Envato. Downloaded it to my Mac. It unzipped itself. From the Joomla Extensions Install the browser would not accept the whole file as a correct "choice", bouncing me to subdirectory where there was no "choice" dialogue, leaving me with an unselected file to install.

What can be done?

Hello,
We Really Apologize for the Inconvenience but since Canvas is a Static HTML5/CSS3 Template so this cannot be installed on a CMS Software like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal etc. You will need to manually Edit the Templates using a Text Editor like Sublime Text or Notepad++ etc using HTML/CSS.

OK. But the Demo of Canvas surely does not suggest that it is anything but a Joomla Template of the ordinary (more spectacular) kind of tool like Fontaine. If there was small-print of whatever you said it "really" was, I sure didn't see it. Probably the $17 price should have set off a vapor trail. I even extended its support for another $8. So, heartbroken over my false treasure map, and wiser, it would assuage my wounded pride to get my $25 back. Or at least the magic words I should look for on my renewed hunt for the right template.

However, we definitely understand that you might have bought it thinking it as a Joomla Template.
