Can i have a thumbnail and the play button show up for a youtube video that I have embedded? Right now it just shows a grey box (even tohugh, if I click I can play the video)

You appear to be using the Youtube Background Video element but it is not recommended for this usage scenario. Consider using the traditional iframe embed codes:
