Github Disaster

I have tried and tried to get access to the changelog but have not been able to do so.
I have two questions.

  1. When I try to add my GitHub user name, the link you provided is a 404 error page - see attached. What am I doing wrong?

  2. Why on earth are you putting your clients through this mess of having to deal with GitHub and the associated garbage that comes with it?
Did I miss the advance notice that we needed to deal with all this Github garbage before you decided to just take away the existing method to access changelog files? Sorry if I sound annoyed, but I now sit around with nothing to do (losing money) because I can't get access to a support service that I thought I could rely on.

Hello,

We really apologize for the Inconveniences caused!

This was a necessary step towards managing the codes in a better way for Users and get more control during updates. Some Advantages of Github Access:

  • No need to Download the 1GB Package from ThemeForest anymore when we release Updates.

  • Track exact code changes with a Comparison Pane for each changed file.

  • Download Old Packages starting from v6.6.5 till the Latest Release.

  • Open Issues, Provide Suggestions for Updates & Adding new features.

  • Interact with other Users, while helping them.

We did release an update on the Support Forums 2 months back regarding this: https://support.semicolonweb.com/forums/topic/get-github-access/ .

We have already sent you an Invite to join the Repository and then you can access the Packages here: https://github.com/SemiColonWeb-Team/Package-HTML/releases . The Changelog can be accessed here: https://github.com/SemiColonWeb-Team/Package-HTML/commit/f135c5698edefae6f23d055f5d70703d064b5212 . We assure you that this is a much better way to Track changes and Download only those Files and Codes that you require.

Thanks for your Kind Patience and Understanding.

Please do let us know if we can help you with anything else or if you find any further issues with Canvas.

Thanks for the quick reply.
What you may not have considered is...
The huge disadvantage is that I have to spend many hours (unbillable) trying to learn a third-party product so I can continue to use the product I purchased and very happily used for more than five years. And what used to take me a few minutes now takes an eternity and requires a skilled developer instead of an idiot marketing guy such as myself.
If I wanted to rewrite your product, I would not have purchased a "template."
I guess I now own six pretty worthless licenses.

Sorry, but you're costing me thousands of dollars because it makes your life easier while making my life a disaster.

Hello,

We really apologize that you feel that way. But Github Access and Version Control was introduced due to the Feedback of a lot of users on the Support Forums and which is why we had to move our entire codebase to GitHub requiring a lot of work and months of planning in order to introduce it to the Users. What we considered was since Canvas is an HTML Template, almost 90% of our users use Github for version control and thus GitHub sounded like a logical move as it would make version control a breeze, but you are right that we had never considered that Canvas could be used by non-technical Users as well and we Apologize for the same.

We would bring back the traditional Changelogs and add them by 24 hours. Thanks for your Patience.
