Getting Started Instructions and Documentation

Having just purchased Canvas I cannot see how I view the various snippets to determine what I'm going to use in my website.

There seems to be a link in the Package to Revolution Slider Visual Editor but on viewing the video this appears to be associated with Wordpress which I am not using.

The online documentation is fine for someone who has purchased a single template but not for anyone who's bought Canvas.

I have purchased 12 months support but cannot find how to contact the programmer but everything that works points to this forum.

Thank you

Hello,

Thanks for Purchasing Canvas!

  1. In order to use the Codes, you will need to directly copy the Codes from the HTML Files in the Package and then paste it in your Template. You can start from page.html Template which is a Blank Template to get started and then use other Templates to mix and match the content according to your needs.

  2. The Revolution Slider Visual Editor provided with the Template is the Editor for the jQuery (not WordPress) Revolution Slider so that it is easier for you to create the Advanced Slider without any Coding Knowledge.

  3. You can check the Documentation provided in the Package/HTML Folder for further details on the Core Components of Canvas.

If you need any further help, we are always here to help you out with them in accordance with the Item Support Policy: https://themeforest.net/page/item_support_policy .

Hope this Helps!

I have decided that the best starting point for me would be the demo floating header template.

I opened Package-HTML / HTML / demos where I was expecting to find all the files required to use this template but the template is not listed!

In Package-HTML / HTML I found header-floating.html but there's no index-header.html

I'm tearing my hair out.

I've used templates in the past without a problem but I find Canvas to be totally bewildering

Hello,

Apologies about the Inconveniences caused! Not all the Templates use the same methods and file arranging practices and are different from one another. HTML Templates do require a little bit of learning curve but once you get the hold of it, we assure you that you will really enjoy working with Canvas! :) Also, we notice that it might your first time using Premium Templates from ThemeForest, so we would recommend you to give some more time getting hold of how templates work.

The Package-HTML/HTML/demos Folder consists all the Asset Files/Inner Pages for the Niche Demos, while the Niche Demo Index Files can be found in the Package-HTML/HTML Folder itself with the demo-*.html filenames.

All the Templates previewed on the Live Demos: http://themes.semicolonweb.com/html/canvas/ are arranged exactly the same way in the Package/HTML Folder. So since there is no index-header.html Template, it does not exist on the Live Demos: http://themes.semicolonweb.com/html/canvas/index-header.html as well.

The best way to use the Demos is to simply copy the #header Codes from the header-floating.html Template and then paste it replacing the existing #header code on any other template. This way the Floating Header will be applied to the New Template. All the other components works similarly.

Hope this Helps!

I have been building websites for many years but this is only my second venture into responsive/bootstrap. My first venture I completed in the time I've been getting support from you (see https://parishcouncilwebsite.net)

I have uploaded all the files Package-HTML/HTML/Demos/real-estate

I have also uploaded the file Package-HTML/demo-real-estate-2.html and renamed it index.html

But if you visit https://parishcouncilwebsite.net/RESPO/ you'll see it doesn't work.

When you're creating a new site using a template it makes sense to start with a template that gives you some of the design/functionality that you want on your new site.

My first choice was floating header because (a) it has a floating header and (b) it has a nice full page image scroller but I can't get that to work at all because I can't find all the files or some are missing?

My second choice is real-estate-2 but that doesn't work either.

Why am I having these problems?

SSemicolon WebSTAFFSep 24, 2018

Hello,

The reason because the Real Estate does not work because the main style.css, other CSS and JS Files are missing. If you are using a Niche Demo, they run on the native style.css and css/js Files.

These are the following Folders/Files you will need for the Niche Templates:

  • css/ Folder

  • images/ Folder (However, you can delete the Images inside this Folder according to your Preference, but don’t delete the images/icons/ Folder)

  • include/ Folder (However, you can delete the rs-plugin/ Folder)

  • js/ Folder

  • demos/real-estate/ Folder

  • style.css File

You can simply delete the other files depending on what you want to use.

This will definitely work fine. Hope this Helps!

OK. I've downloaded all the files and I've tried calling all three versions of the layout but none deliver the images.

Just to check that it's not me being incompetent I went to the Themewagon website and downloaded a template from them. They place ALL the files you need for any given template in the same folder and it all worked straight away.

Why do you have to make it so difficult?

Can you please zip all the files for floating-header and real-estate-2 in two separate files and place them somewhere where I can download them.

If you can't do that please process a refund.

Thank you

Hello,

As we mentioned earlier, all Templates and their File Structures are different, so comparing them and their functionality is not practical we feel. Additionally, as you mention, that keeping all the Files and Folders individually for a particular Template would be a nightmare for a developer and for us to create the Downloadable Package as it would need multiple updates across the same files in different folders (when we release an Update) which is harder to handle considering how many templates Canvas has. More than 36K Users are using Canvas and they do not have an issue with the File Structure.

Regarding your issue, the images do not display because you have not uploaded the Images to your servers. Consider following the Documentation completely and everything should work fine. Again, please do not compare 2 different Templates as Canvas is indeed has a different File Structure.

  1. Files required for header-floating.html Template:
  • css/ Folder

  • images/ Folder

  • include/ Folder (delete the rs-plugin/ Folder)

  • js/ Folder

  • style.css File

  • header-floating.html File

  1. Files required for demo-real-estate-2.html Template:
  • css/ Folder

  • images/ Folder

  • include/ Folder (delete the rs-plugin/ Folder)

  • js/ Folder

  • demos/real-estate/ Folder

  • style.css File

  • demo-real-estate-2.html File

Simply, extract the above files from the Package/HTML Folder into a New Folder and everything will work as expected.

Hope this Helps!

OK.

I have header-floating.html working but demon-real-estate-2.html has no images!
