Features boxes (videos and images) - adding effect when mouse over

Hello, first thanks for the great template and support.

I really like http://themes.semicolonweb.com/html/canvas/featured-boxes.php

I really like Video Featured Boxes and Image Featured boxes.

However, is possible to add a nice effect for mouseover? it could be for example highlight of the border, or change color of the background, or adding a shadow? That effect will help to user to browse across the boxes. I could try to investigate and change the CSS myselft. But you are the expert and I wanted to have your opinion as I am quite sure you have done something before already.
