Download of Revolution Slider Visual Editor from GDrive currently not working

  1. I try to download the Rev Slider editor from this page/URL: https://support.semicolonweb.com/forums/topic/canvas-v4-3-asset-downloads/

  2. I click on the 'Download Now' link, which takes me to : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8_nVncz0cF0Nkk0U3Zaa2liWE0/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-iSY3_cVw4_A6ySgXE0dtiQ

  3. There is both a Download link in the top menu, as we all as a Download button presented after the page fails to preview the zip file (see screen shots)

  4. *** CLICKING ON EITHER DOWNLOAD LINK OPENS A NEW TAB presenting a "Google Drive: Sign-In" page - a user is unable to access/download the file, as it does not appear to be marked as shared and/or public currently. I suspect the support person who responded and marked the previous ticket linked to above, was likely signed in to GDrive already, so it worked for them.

Please advise and thank you in advance.

Hello,

The Issue reported by another user in the Older Support Ticket was not related to this and there was a 404 File not found issue with the Download Link which we have already fixed.

We have just checked this out and it appears to be working fine for us. In order to Download to Visual Editor freely, you will need a Google Account for unauthorized access, which is a requirement from Google Drive.

This is a horrible setup/requirement from a usability perspective!

A user should not have to create an account to purchase your product AND create yet a 2nd account just to download a specific portion of the content.

Additionally - Why was I able to download the PSD files (on Dropbox) from the link included in the PSD directory, in the original Canvas ZIP file, but need an account for these files?

So, I just signed in via my GMail account, despite my better judgement & now I’m getting a 403 error. What a %^%#*%# mess, just to download something I purchased. Smh.??‍♂️

Apologies for the Inconveniences caused!

We have tested this again and it appears to be working perfectly fine for us and we have tried 10 different account to download the Visual Editor. The Visual Editor has been added to Google Drive since 2017 and since then only 5-10 users have reported issues while Downloading it. We definitely understand that this is an extra requirement but when we used a Public URL, it was was run over by Spammy Users. Additionally, since your Envato Account already uses a Gmail Account: IntelliDataSolutions@gmail.com, we don't think you would have needed to create another Google Account. Simply logging in to your existing account to download the Visual Editor would have worked just fine. Nonetheless, we have sent you a Download URL to your Email Address.

However, we assure you that we have taken your suggestions into consideration and will definitely try implementing a more secure way to Download the Canvas Package Asset Files without any additional hindrances.

Thank you & please note the following:

  1. I was initially just speaking generically with regard to having to create two accounts (not everyone has/uses google)

  2. To further illustrate this: I did sign-in with my existing Gmail account credentials and I received. “403 Forbidden” error. I’m not sure why/I didn’t deep dive into it, but suspect it might be because although I have a GMail account, I don’t use GDrive. Not sure if I would have to add that as an extra to my GMail account, etc. (or not).

  3. I received an e-mail with a shared link to the file & was able to download it. I was admittedly on another device, so who knows…

  1. We understand. However, as we mentioned, Less than 10 people have reported regarding this in the last 5 years. So, this didn't come as an obvious issue for us and also not something that happens regularly otherwise we would have acted much earlier on this. We are working on a CDN solution for this.
