How I wish I would explain this issue with the demo-restaurant template better.

Thank You so so much for the very elaborate explanation! And Apologies about the Inconveniences caused!
According to the issues you are facing and after checking out your File/Folder Structure, it appears that the css/ Folder appears to be missing which is causing this issue as the Grid Structure, the Dark/Light Schemes and Responsive CSS is inside this Folder.
Simply add the css/ Folder and its content into your Installation and everything else should correct itself.
