Demo pages rendering in mobile view in Safari on Mac

Hi,

I have the latest version of Canvas (as of Oct-21-2018) on my MacBook Pro. When I open the demo templates, e.g. demo-app-landing.html, in Safari on my Mac, the page renders as if I'm viewing it on a mobile device. This is the case with all the demo pages I checked so far. I'm assuming by default Safari is being treated as a mobile platform which is not true since it can be used on MacBooks and iMacs as well.

Below are screenshots of demo-app-landing.html as displayed in Safari and Firefox on my MacBook Pro. It can be seen that Firefox is rendering the page as expected but Safari is not.

It is happening to the demo pages right out of the box without any modifications whatsoever. I just downloaded, unzipped and opened the demo pages.

This is what I just observed.

The same files on my old Mac are working totally fine even in Safari. The issue is with my new Mac. Safari is exactly the same version on both the Macs. Here are the details.

MacBook Pro 2011 version with Safari 12.0 is fine.

MacBook Pro 2017 version with Safari 12.0 is rendering all the demo pages in mobile view.

What is being used to detect if the web page is open on a mobile device or not?

Hello,

Thanks for your Patience!

We are not sure as to why this is happening on your Macbook, since we are not experiencing any issues on Safari: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wpkvpbzi8k7ko97/Screen%20Shot%202018-09-24%20at%2010.50.24%20PM.png?dl=0 when checking the Package Files. Additionally, there is no code which modifies the default viewing experience. Can you please consider checking this out on another 2017 Macbook Pro.

Also, please disable any extensions that might be causing this.

Hope this Helps!

Let us know if we can help you with anything else or if you find any further issues.

I was finally able to resolve this. Just in case someone has a similar issue and comes here looking.

For some reason, my Safari was zoomed in significantly only for these pages and hence started to render them in mobile view. When I reset the zoom to default (command + 0), everything was fine.

Thanks for your prompt responses.

I'm trying to mark this as "resolved" but not sure how to do it. Changing the tag in the top drop-down options does not seem to be working.
