Hello - please advise below re: Revo Slider (1st time using it, etc.).

  1. Am I missing something or is the Canvas HTML 5 Template package sold as a "Non-Wordpress Template/Templates" solution, yet the included Revo Slider is a Plug-In only and does in fact require a WordPress intall??!! (For a static site, how does this benefit anyone?)

  2. What do the resulting/exported Slides require? HTML 5/Jquery ONLY OR Wordpress as well? (I presume the former, given the Revo Sliders mentioned/used in the Canvas template package, but again, this is my first time using any of it)

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

  1. Canvas is a Static HTML5 Template and the Revolution Slider Visual Editor included is also non-WordPress but requires PHP for installation. You can consider checking out the Documentations here: https://revolution.themepunch.com/visual_editor/documentation/first-steps/index.html#installation .

  2. The Visual Editor is primarily provided only for Creating Sliders from scratch and then exporting them to be included on your Page. The above documentations will provide you detailed information on how to Create and Export Sliders for your Website. This is for HTML5/jQuery only. The Slider included with the Canvas Package are Code/Templates only and cannot be imported to the Visual Editor due to Licensing Restrictions. The Plugin Authors do not allow distributing the Premium Templates or their ZIP Exports as this is out of License. If you need to import the Templates, then you will need to Purchase the License from the Plugin Author directly. Here is a detailed explanation: https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/213762463-Bundled-Plugins#what . Currently, you can only customize the Slider Templates manually by editing the codes using the rs-demo-*.html Templates. Hope this Helps!

Thank you for the additional clarification/details.

Prior to e-mailing support, I did review the doc(s) at the link you also provided (https://revolution.themepunch.com/visual_editor/documentation/first-steps/index.html#installation).

Unfortunately, as multiple other users have reported, there is no direction(s) provided as to the entry point and/or installation of the editor. The instructions show the initial screen/screens but no steps to get to there.

I currently have php installed & have ‘poked’ around/opened various files and I don’t see the screen in the link provided.

Please advise, thank you.

Hello,

Once you upload the Visual Editor Files to a directory using FTP, example: https://your-website.com/visual-editor/ and then setup a Database. Simple going to this Page: https://your-website.com/visual-editor/ in your Browser will display the Installation Page. Post that everything is self-explanatory.

Hope this Helps!

Soooo…”and then setup a database?”

Up until now, there’s been no mention of having to create a db anywhere what-so-ever. Only requirement mentioned previously was PHP as follows:

“Canvas is a Static HTML5 Template and the Revolution Slider Visual Editor included is also non-WordPress but requires PHP for installation.”

Where are there full instructions for setting this up locally or online completely?

Your telling me to ‘create a database’…I’m sure it requires a location, name, accounts, tables, etc. I purchased this days/a couple of weeks ago & can’t seem to get proper or full directions. Fairly disappointed so far with it taking so long to set up because there’s no proper documentation included.

Hello,

The Installation Instructions provided with the Slider Revolution Visual Editor is pretty comprehensive and it applies for all the Templates (not limited to Canvas). Even with Canvas the same steps are required and there is no special requirements for the same. Additionally, if you had purchased the Plugin from the Plugin Authors directly, the Documentation would be the same and you have have to follow the same steps. All you have to do is a Create a MySQL Database and a Database Username/Password. That's it!

The Location is always localhost by default. You can choose the Table Prefix yourself. The Visual Editor Installation Wizard will create them automatically for you. That's all. There are no special or complicated steps required.

Hope this Helps! We recommend you consider trying this first according to the Documentations and let us know if you are facing any further issues this.
