button not working on mobile - js conflict?

Hi Canvas,

A few weeks ago I wrote about a problem I was having on a webpage where a particular button wasn't displaying and you figured out that there was a js conflict with the canvas theme. Thank you again for your help solving that problem.

I've run into a similar problem. I have an oxford dictionary api that works on both desktop and mobile on my current site, but on the CANVAS development site, the "search" button fails to work on mobile. I'm writing because I wonder if the problem is another js conflict with canvas. The files are the same (current site and dev site) -- it's just that running in the canvas environment on mobile it doesn't work, and I don't know why.
Could you take a look?

Here it is on the current site -- you can test the Oxford Dictionary form on both desktop and mobile:
https://www.eslvideo.com/quiz.php?id=33971

And here is the canvas page -- you'll see when you test on mobile, the Oxford form fails:
https://www.eslvideo.com/anew/quiz.php?id=33971

Are you able to see why that is?

Thank you very much for your time and help

Hi Canvas,

Will you have time to look into this today?

Hello,

Thanks for your Patience!

Apologies about the misunderstanding, however, can you please provide us with a Screenshot of differences between both the pages so that we can provide you with more assistance on this. Thanks for your Patience.

Additionally, since this issue is related to Customized Codes, our support on this unfortunately will be limited.

Meanwhile, do let us know if we can help you with anything else or if you find any further issues with Canvas.

Hi Canvas,

Yes, I have attached the screenshots.

The first one "1.png" shows the dictionary plugin working on my current site here:
https://www.eslvideo.com/quiz.php?id=33971

The second one, "2.php" shows the diction plugin not-working on a Canvas page:
https://www.eslvideo.com/anew/quiz.php?id=33971
(test it and you'll reproduce the error - the search button doesn't function properly -- the plugin misfires.)

It works on my live site, why not on a Canvas page? Is there a javascript conflict? I'm not experienced enough to know what could be causing it to not work on the Canvas page.

Thank you for your help. I hope to hear back from you today if possible.

Hello,

Apologies about the Inconveniences and misunderstandings!

Unfortunately, we are not sure what exactly is not working for you. The Button itself is not displaying/not-working or the functionality of the button is not working?

It works on my live site, why not on a Canvas page? Is there a javascript conflict? I’m not experienced enough to know what could be causing it to not work on the Canvas page.

In reference to this, can you please confirm if you have copied and added all the assets accordingly and completely in the same way in the other template? Additionally, we can see many JS errors in the Browser's Console which you might consider checking out as they might be causing the issue.

Additionally, in regard to the Customization, this is not a functionality included with Canvas, therefore it is completely your responsibility to integrate any additional functionality. And the JS Conflicts are something which can happen if the JS Scripts are loaded multiple times on a page, missing, outdated or not coded correctly. It is our responsibility to make sure that the JS Codes included within Canvas works correctly but any external scripts is out of the scope of the included support.

Thanks for Understanding.

Do let us know if we can help you with anything else or if you find any further issues with Canvas.

Hi Canvas,

Thank you for getting back to me. You can mark this issue resolved. The problem, it turns out, didn't have anything to do with the Canvas theme. It's fixed.
Thank you for the having looked into this, and the heads up about the javascript errors. You guys are top notch.
