Hello,
This is most likely going to be a very basic question.
I've built websites from scratch as well as from some of the free basic templates I've found on the web using Sublime Text as my code editor, but I must admit I'm a bit confused by the amount / structure of the material I've received for the Canvas template. In the past I've built pages based on templates I've found on the web like I mentioned and it was a simple matter of updating text and link content and adding images to folders etc. This appears to be the case for the most part with the Canvas template too, but I can't seem to figure out how to get started with it.
The problem: I've added all specified content that was mentioned in the documentation - index, CSS, various folders - to my webspace and accessed the index page via my browser to evaluate where I wanted to add my own content in my text editor. What I see when the index page loads is everything offered in the Canvas template. All the menu items with all the drop downs featuring all of the iterations of this fantastic template. Clearly I don't want all of this content for the simple business site I am creating. So I guess my basic question is, what iS the best procedure to begin. If I want to use the portfolio-index page, and footer I like, what is the best way to go about doing this where I'm not also looking at a shopping cart icon and drop downs of all the other available content. Essentially a simple process of using the elements I want to create the site. I'm sure there is a simple way of achieving this that I'm not seeming to see yet. I guess I just need a little hand holding. ; )
Thanks!
James
