Automatic closing of minified menu

Hello,
When my site is displayed on a mobile phone the primary menu gets minified. By clicking on the small menu symbol a drop down version of the primary menu opens and you can click on a menu item that will bring you to the section you want to see. However, after that the dropdown menu remains open, and on smaller devices, you cannot see the content anymore of the section because the drop-down menu blocks the view.
Is it possible to let the drop-down menu automatically close after a user has clicked on one of the items? If yes, how do I achieve this?
